The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) have recently announced plans that will see the Rideau Carleton Raceway in Ottawa receive something of a makeover. The new proposal outlines plans that will add a hotel and entertainment venue, which will combine to create hundreds of extra jobs in the process.
Here we will detail everything that is outlined in the plan.
How much will the Rideau Carelton Raceway change?
As mentioned, the plans outlined include the addition of a hotel, which will in turn boost the number of guests that can visit, along with a concert venue that will enable the raceway to increase the number of ways they entertain guests.
Such improvements come at a big cost, and under the agreement, Hard Rock International will partner with the raceway in the capital city’s rural south end. A combined $320m will be invested into the project, although they are determined to keep a strong focus on the horse racing with added improvement identified for that too.
However, the biggest additions will be for the gamblers out there. Around 750 new slots will be available alongside the existing 1,250. Furthermore, 21 table games will be introduced which will lead to the gaming floor being extended to 140,000 sq ft. Upon completion, Hard Rock will run the day to day operations of the casino.
The planned concert venue will be able to hold up to 2,000 guests, which should attract some big names across the country. Further additions will include a cafe and a bar, which again offer visitors a more complete experience.
Hard Rock plan further improvements across Canada
Chairman of Hard Rock International Jim Allen revealed that they were delighted to be involved with these developments, saying: “We’re thrilled to have been chosen by OLG to create Hard Rock Casino Ottawa”.
He also added that it’s part of a long-term strategy for the company in Canada: “This is a crucial first step towards a larger strategic vision of our world-class brand’s expansion efforts in Ontario and throughout Canada. We are honored to partner with RCR, a reputable and longstanding member of the Ottawa community, and look forward to working with both the RCR and OLG team members through the transition and beyond.”
Given that Hard Rock boast a portfolio that includes venues in 75 different countries, which have 175 cafes, 24 hotels and 11 casinos, the people of Ottawa can expect high standards to be maintained with the raceway project.
Ultimately, the plan gives locals and tourists much more to look forward to in the area. Horse racing will still be a prominent feature, but the addition of the concert venue and advancements with the casino is sure to encourage more players.
