Project Problems For Aquis Entertainment!

Lucky Nugget Casino reported a few weeks ago that Canberra Casino operators Aquis Entertainment were looking to expand their casino business into Queensland. It was due to be named the Aquis Great Barrier Reef Resort and was to include a whole host of amazing features such as a golf course, a theater and a 5-star hotel suite with 4,000 guest rooms. Well, unfortunately for Aquis, the project is going ahead minus one crucial component – the casino!

Of course, this is the first stage of the project, so Aquis must move forward quickly if they want to gain the necessary approvals before the end of 2016. It seems they’re doing just that, with Aquis leaders Tony & Justin Fang meeting with Curtis Pitt, treasurer for Brisbane meeting for high level talks on the project.

‘A crucial move’ says Pitt!

This move, according to Pitt, allows Aquis to begin developing the resort without having to play a key part in the integrated resort development project. Some would say this is a definite vital step in securing a casino license, allowing this exciting project to go ahead. The Cairns Post reports that Pitt is more than welcoming the proponent’s commitment to the progression of the large-scale integrated resort, even without the casino’s involvement in the first stage. It’s obvious to see that Pitt is excited about the project moving forward and looks to get the casino off the ground in early 2017.

It looks like the only thing that could stop this project being completed is the availability of a IRD license. As it stands, the approval of land development will most certainly speed up the casino process; even if the process has gone backwards a step since the start of March.

The Barrier Reef Resort has most definitely began construction though, with 4,000 guest rooms, an exhibition center, retail center, aquarium and golf course all on offer! There’s even going to be a theater. We know the team at Lucky Nugget Casino are looking forward to paying a visit.
